Text Box: GHOST HUNTING TIPS & TRICKS

Text Box: 1. Read the Ghost Story Magazine Safety Sheet by clicking here.
2. Create a base plan for your investigation detailing exactly what you would like to accomplish and where you will need to focus. Ghost hunting can be quite an exciting experience and the time can really fly by so be sure to stick to your plan and stay focused.
3. Paranormal activity has been known to increase during lightning storms, around full and new moons, and during solar or geomagnetic storms. Review the current weather conditions, moon phases, and solar activity index by clicking here.
4. Conduct an equipment inventory on the day of your investigation and make sure all your equipment is freshly charged and working properly. Always make sure you bring extra batteries with you on investigations. Spirits have been known to drain fully charged batteries in order to energize themselves for manifestation. You should also store your spare batteries in your car or somewhere out of the paranormal hot zone.
5. Perform a site walkthrough during the day to become familiar with your surroundings and to note any hazards.
6. Setup a home base centrally located on the premises and/or closest to the most active areas.
7. Do a preliminary walkthrough of the premises before the formal investigation begins and take base equipment readings.
8. When incurring paranormal activity, look for the most natural explanation first. It is usually the correct one. Old plumbing and heating pipes can make for some real ghostly sounds!!
9. Always be respectful of the spirits and the unseen!! Show the same kind of respect you would give a living person entering there home.
10. Be professional at all times. It is ok to have fun but just don't take it over the line.
11. If you come with a large group split up into smaller teams of 2 to 4 people so you can cover more ground.
12. Be sure to record any "out of the ordinary" thoughts, feelings, or observations along with the time. You never know when you might be able to collaborate a special paranormal event that someone else was also observing or recording.
13. Spend at least 30 minutes to 1 hour in each room or area taking pictures, recording for EVP, and using your other ghost hunting equipment. Take your time and do a thorough job.
14. When doing EVP recordings, make verbal notes of any known or unknown noise that you or anyone else hears with the naked ear. For example, use the format "Note Dog Barking" if you hear a dog barking. That will really help you when it comes to analyzing your recordings.
